Default A mtn soup bowl

Also in the musem there was this big bur/knot that was taken off a tree there in the park when they was clearing the land for the park on Grandfather Mtn. in Linville,NC.

Neat burl! We get some really big ones on the redwood trees out here, only they're reddish color of course.My husband has some big slabs of madrone burl. Any burl is beautiful. Thanks for showing pictures.

Kathy,if you click on this pict here,behind me{over my left shoulder} is a photo of the knot on the tree,it wasnt a big tree,seemed the knot grew larger taken away from now big the tree had grown.

Yea me too Dave,I dont eat soup that other people make,just the ones I cook. I know they eat alot of ground hog up here!

i know of a burl near me that is 3 feet high and 2 feet thick. the entire tree from root to limg is covered inburl. oh how i wish i had that. :-P~

Dave, I think there are "mountain oysters" in mountain soup!

Forrest, are you sure that is a mountain soup bowl? Looks like something my Pap-paw would have taken a bath in on Saturday nights....
