Default a Mtn Bird

I know theres Grouse everywhere besides in the mtns but theres alof of them up here, such beautifull birds! This Ruffed Grouse,is carved in another old wormy pine board. Sometimes dont let the old wood fool you, there was a nice area of soild wood in this board.

Its 7 1/4 X 9 3/4 inches,I wanted to leave most of the carving unpainted. Didnt use any stain on the wood but did coat the carved raw wood with a light coat of feed n wax, then painted the grouse.

Notice the worm holes at the top and bottem of this board where I carved a log there and the worm holes added to it.

I could have really done some painting in this carving but with only the Grouse painted,I thought this carving came out pretty well.

Your thoughts or comments are always welcome,Thks' Forrest

very nice carving...to me, it adds so much that you in this case oly painted the bird, and left the backgound unpainted (ron, the background is trees, the bird sits on one branch of a front tree), since that puts the focus on the bird, and when the view wanders one sees an interesting background too. very well done. really love that :-)
