Wax inlay looks good, but it's a real pain! A sanding sealer before carving is a really good idea. Too bad I keep forgetting to do it. I think it would really serve to cut down on the scraper use. Any comments are welcome.

Looks great! I like the idea of using wax. I will have to try some wax inlay, what kind of wax did you use? I,v used paint on a carving that same way. I carved a poem in to a oak plank, and then painted the whole thing. Next I scraped it clean, and the plaint staid in the carvings, and in the pores of the grain. After a coating of tong oil, the poem, and the grain of the wood looked great!!! |

Very nice Bob. Simple and clean. I'll have to try this. Looks like alot of practice is needed to get all those curves just right. Bill |

Thanks, Bill. It's not so much practice (though that NEVER hurts) as being a matter of cut, examine and adjust. Multiple times!

Really like this one! I think I'm going through a phase where I like that narrow part above the bowl. Exceptional bowl this time. That wax all the way to the edges looks particularly tricky... great job!

Thanks, sXe. Thanks, Laura. Actually the wax on the stem was the easy part. The hard part was those @^$%#^^&* triangles. And keeping carbonized wick out of the heart. Had to cut out several pieces, drip in new wax, then flame the whole area to meld the new with the old.
