| | More Bark Well the wife and I went for another drive and found a big ole grandpa tree with the bark falling off. So we ended up with another truckload of bark and that should keep me busy for awhile. I am going to be sending some to one of our forum members, for him to use to teach his students to carve woodspirits. Share the wealth, so to speak. I am really enjoying carving with this bark, but you have to keep after your tools. Bark has a tendency to dull them quickly. Not so bad once you get through the outer surface. Its kind of like cutting soft butter. Anyways Im really enjoying carving these little houses. Learning alot with each one. I believe I am getting a little better at it. By the way I got the book "Carving Tree Bark" By Rick Jensen and Jack Williams. An excellent little book for ideas and tips for working with bark and also finishing techniques. Here are 2 more pics. Hope you enjoy them. Let me know what you think. PS. Have not put finish on yet

| | Re: More Bark Yep Vince! looks like you are getting good at it. Very nice clean bark carvings. I picked up a van load of the bark last summer, and brought home to Ohio. Wonderfull stuff, especially when it's free. Only trouble I had was that nobody told me about the spiders and ants that were hiddin in the bark. Wife was just a wee bit antsy for the rest of the drive. Tom H |
