Default Mor progress Native American

Well I've done a little moreon this indian, trying to get the facial features in I wanted the eyes to be narrow (squinted ). I also made progres on getting the hair started, I still want to got back about 3 mors inches. This log is popular from my sons yard. It's a little more of a struggle than basswood. I thought I srewed it up and didn't leave enought depth in the chest area for the braids , but when I lowered the neck area i t seemed ok. Well thanks for lookin I will post again as I get further along. comments always welcome, good or bad.

Great progress on your Native American carving! I like the detail you've carved in the eyes and can hardly wait to see it when you finished carving it... Be sure and keep posting photos of your progress! Save Carving to you too!

Coming along nicely Feb. I would suggest thinning out the top of the hair...or give it a lower profile while you move it back on the forehead - just something I picked up from another carver. The braids will be fun when they start coming out of the wood. I've carved my share of poplar. It tends to check more than some wood so seal it soon when your done.
