I love the fact that you carve an extra one for us. I just got the segments from the first one today and it was like Christmas to look through the segments!!!

Anyone thinking about carving the cane segments,

but needing help with obtaining cane segments, ideas pattern or wooden blocks or drilling them, give me or tom h. a holler.. im sure we can come out with a fix,

carving the many segments will definitely help you refine lot of bad habits
its great practice,

hey not everybody is a outstanding carver, im certainly not among that classification,

but it is a great way to collect others carvings to tell how they do things...

Hey Tom, what is the deadline for sending them out for this one? A target date will help everyone stay on track.
Thanks!
Blake

What size hole for the rod? Liberal 1/8 again? I am hopping a few come in. I really need to be an alternate, but will dive in and make it work if we are short participants.

Target date for completion of MINI Friendship Cane Round 2, Aug 20, 2009 (Thomps birthday). That's about one mini carved segment a week. How's that?

Generous 1/8th inch (3/16") hole drilled, works.

Come on boys and girls, jump into this project. What better way to get to know some fellow carvers and members of this message board. When you hold someones carving in your hand, you really do get to know them on a higher level, than by reading their posts and looking at photos of their carving.

Hey tom! i think you resemble that remark!.. you get old on the same day!

but i do agree,
during Christmas orniment swaps or just a carving swap for sure i definately love having another persons carving in my hands and see how they did things or navigated around the pitfalls im having at the time...

I hope I am not too late jumping in here. Do I understand the blocks are 3/4 by3/4 by no more than 2" tall?
And we need to do 13?

Then I would like to try it. Do you PM me for my address?
Wanda

Wanda,

It is not too late! In fact we could use several more mini friendship cane participants. As to the total number of cane segments to carve; this too may have to change, as I have not heard a "FOR SURE I AM PARTICIPATING" from Claude, and woodchips4u (both said they would be alternates). However, plan on carving 10 at this time. Correct on the size. And I will PM for addresses. Deadline for sending is August 20.

Lets hear from a few more folks to participate.....

Thanks,

Tom H
