Someone mentioned mailing theirs already. Isn't August something the deadline to mail?

You are correct Wanda, but I think it is ok if Thomp gets his birthday present a little early, especially since he almost cut his finger off at the elbow. Aug 20 is the deadline .

Yep, Aug 20 is the DEADLINE! But I know Thomp likes to get mail every day or so. It's good to hear that so many are gettin on with these cane segments, and not waiting till the last minute. If anyone does run into mailing/deadline problems be sure to let me know. It's also reasuring that you all are posting about your progress. Exchanges/swaps like this are a whole lot more fun when the participants post a lot. And we know they are even more fun when Claude posts. Thanks for makin it fun!

Tom, Those are super. Do you have patterns for each or did you just carve?

There are several there I'd like to try carving. I am glad you let your Granddaughter choose who got what.
I think I am going to wrap them and package them and then write the names on them so I can't be blamed for who got what.

Wanda, I am sort of like the sheepdog in that I generally carve the head first, and sometimes that lets me know where to go from there. Some I sort of have an idea beforehand, so that I have to leave an arm in place. It is the easiest to put their hands in their pockets, so that is why a lot are that way. The book by Jack Price got me doing these, and I have had great fun with them.
Have fun, Tom

hey! i resemble that remark...

think i got some strange new disease from that icepick butz detail knife tom h. sent me from woodcraft, (old-man' itiz)
i been whittling all day long on the replacements. working wounded and all, and not getting much ahead..

but it doesn't help that my grandsons hollering "hey grandpa look what im doing" on the PlayStation II gta III "he forgot his games at home"

he likes to shoot the guns in the river, and look at the pretty girls.... and ride the subway... on that game,

Hi Kris,
Good Lord willing, and old blue makes it, I'll be there. That is always a great get together.
