Mini Friendship Cane - Round Two?

Well I am half way. Carving something different now to change it up a bit. Also discovered that I love carving cedar, smells great, carves nicely, takes detail well and love the color variation between the sap and heartwood.

Finally got them all painted...thought I was going to run out of paint, but managed to get enough off the sides of the bucket for the last carving. Now to varnish. I figure three coats should do it, and I hope it will as I only have 1 gallon of varnish.

No machine involved at all, Corey...you just have to pick the right type and size of paint roller. I may have to get a chain saw, though - my arms are completely worn out from the carving, and I need a new mallet - think I'll try the synthetic this next time, as the hard maple just barely made it through the 13 carvings. In fact, I was worried about it on the last carving - I switched to my framing hammer part way through...

Hi all,
I just finished packing mine, and they will all go out in the mail on monday. My grandaughter reached in a bag, and picked who got what, so you can't be blaming me totally.

Wow, you guys are blazing thru! LOL @Claude! I got a total of four done this weekend. 2/3 there, and but I don't have to paint them.

Grand daughter stopped in this saturday, and she left with of one of my segments,

i grabbed up another block this morning, thinking heck i carved 20 of them, this one would go fast,
well that carving session was over in a flash! as i slashed my index finger normally protected by my quilters finger proctor... not worn because this one was going to be fast!

Working on mine, I am at a carving week this coming week , so will fit these little guys in on breaks and evenings. Only 4 to go, have packaged most of them as I go. Looking forward to getting these guys off and to their new homes.
