Default Mini friendship cane?

I have been kicking around the idea of putting together a mini friendship cane, segment exchange. There seems to be more and more members who like to carve the wee things. The exchange would work the same as the Christmas ornament exchange, only with mini cane segments. The mini cane segments would be carved from a 1/2" x 1/2" x 1" or 3/4" x 3/4" x 1" pieces (to be determined) with a 1/8" hole drilled through. If there were 12 folks interested, each would carve 12 cane segments, and send them out.

If this sounds like fun, and if you're interested, let me know....

I would love to, but I don't think I am quite there yet. Maybe next time around.

I think if I post a photo of what I have in mind, you'll will see that just about anybody who wants to carve a little bit smaller can have some fun with this. This is a sample mini friendship cane/stick. These were carved out of 1/2"x1/2" stock. apples, pumpkins, 3 minute owl - all within reach. Cane segments of 3/4" x 3/4" opens up all sorts of possibilities. I think that there would have to be 10 folks participating to make this work.

Hi Tom,
Looks like the sign ups are coming in a little slow. From the picture you posted I think the cane would make a nice keepsake. Hope ya get enough folks interested! I am currently trying to get a couple busts finished for competition later in the year. Take care,
Jim OH

Hi Tom,

Great idea, sign me up! What, with my contact lenses, reading glasses and magnifying lamp all at the same time I just may be able to carve that small. Let me know what the specs are and I'll get started.

I have been sitting here thinking about this and I have changed my mind. Given the little things I have carved I think I can do this. So, add me to the list.
