Default Mid west/East coast carving stores?

This week we are leaving Kansas to Iowa and then heading across the lower edge of the Great Lakes region on our way to Camden Maine. We are sailing for a week and generally touring the east coast area. I'm wondering about visting carving stores that would not be too far out of the way. We may coming back to Iowa thru New York State but not sure as yet. Although I've been to The WoodcraftShop I may go again but other than saying hello to Larry and Carol I have no idea what else may be along the way. Might you carvers familiar with the areas mentioned have some noteworthy recommendations? I would be grateful if you do.

Thumbs up Re: Mid west/East coast carving stores?

A couple of suggestions Wood Chip Shop in Des Moines, and Wood Smith Store in Des Moines. If I'm not mistaken Wood Chip Shop is open Tuesday thru Saturday. Have a safe trip.

Camden, Maine was my "home" for two weeks when I attended Chris Pye's woodcarving class at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, in the next town of Rockport, Maine. You'll be within a couple of miles of the Center on your way to Camden. Stop in during the week and ask for a tour; it's worth a visit to see the gallery and the workshops. They always have a least a couple of summer workshops active. We spent most evenings at the happy hour at Cappy's, downtown Camden. What a neat, New England harbor town! Mike

I missed Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, 264 Stirling Rd, Warren, ME 04864. It's just down the road from CFC and a side trip most of the woodcarvers made. Lie-Nielsen Toolworks USA | Home

The CFC website is: Center for Furniture Craftsmanship woodworking school

Hi Bob,

there are several Woodcraft stores in New England. I go to the one in West Springfield, MA, which is not too far off I-91. There's also Greg Dorrance Co in Attleboro, about 1/2 way between Providence RI and Boston, although I've never been to it.

Ron, I searched Goggle Map and got the directions to Cape Forge. I'll see what I can do.
BillinO, I would like to stop at the Wood Chip Store in Des Monies and pick another bucket but won't get that far up in the state.
Eddy, It's on my list.

Thanks all for the info. It's a long ways up there and I don't want to miss my interests if I only know about them. The locations of interests that is.
