| | Mesa, AZ show The wife and I made our way down to Mesa yesterday to check out the show. Members Mottles and Hi Ho Sliver made a nice showing. Mottles showed her Kachina and won a ribbon for her woodburned lantern, very nice. Dave got a couple second places, one for a caricature the other for a really nice turtle carving. It was a sea turtle, life size[?]natural wood finish on interesting wood base.
Maybe you guys could show pictures.
Sorry if I missed something or some one. It was a good show with lots to see.
It is the first time I have gone to a show and I was pretty excited, now I wish I had stayed longer and talked to more carvers. The wife really started herding me towards the door when she found out how much money I had in the other pocket. Dang.
Maybe next year.

| | Re: Mesa, AZ show Wished I could have attended like we'd planned. Glad to hear Motles & Dave got some Satin.
I'm kind of down on that Mesa group. After we got socked by the Ice Storm I had to cancel out of the show. Dropped them a few emails explaining the circumstances and ask for a refund of my fee submission. Haven't heard a thing. Too bad. If they don't come through will just write them off my show list. |

I don't know how long ago you posted your request but I assure you this will be brought up to the powers that be and make sure they are aware of your request to get your funds returned. It sounds like it was done in a timely manner so there should not be a problem.
The show was great with many great carvings. Tonight we are all kicking back and trying to unwind.
Peter Benson from England and Lorie Corbett were two of the judges, did a great job and also are teaching classes while they are here. They both did a lot of critiquing after the judging was done and that was a great help to the contestants who wanted to know how to improve for next year.
Lynn, I only hope we can resolve this to your satisfaction and can look foreward to your being here next year!

| I was at the Mesa show, which was my first as well. Very impressive. Any info on the classes that Peter & Lorie may be teaching? I am a newbie and could use all the help that is available. |

I had hoped you would be there and was looking forward to seeing your work in person, maybe getting some tips. I also knew you had other stuff going on. Hopefully another time. Are you planning on Santa Fe again and when is that?

| | Re: Mesa, AZ show Jim.....Yeah, we were really looking forward to the trip to AZ but, that's the way it goes sometimes. I try to get to Santa Fe during the Indian Market which is in August. Poured down rain the whole time last year but it was still worth it. The chance to talk to some of the best known sculptors in the world while they're working on a piece is priceless for learning new techniques. |
