Default In memory of our dog

Last month we lost our ten year old Mastiff to cancer, I carved this is in his memory. The plaque is 11" x 14" the carving is 8" x 9" x 2 1/2" basswood. the stain is BLO and burnt umber with a wax finish. The Plaque will need many more coats before it stops soaking into the end grain.

Hi Eric, while it saddens me to hear about the loss of your good friend and companion, I'm glad you were able to carve such a wonderful tribute to his memory.

Thank you all very much for your comments I really appreciate them.
We had two dogs Brutus and Max a German shepherd. Brutus was more my wife's dog and Max is always at my side. My wife took his passing very hard, so this carving is for her so that he can still be with her.

Hi Eric,
So sorry to hear about the passing of Brutus. I'm sure that along with the BLO, burnt umber and wax there has to be some tears in the finish, great carving and wonderful tribute.

It's a hard thing to loose a pet that has been a constant loving part of your life. My condolences to you and your wife. The carving is great. It is a wonderful memorial.
