Ok, gents. When I get a bit of time I'll find and post pictures of the Glacier Park Internatonal Airport mural illustration to carving process with explanation. That's probably one of our more complex pieces as it contains just about all of it. IE: Animals, birds, trees, shrubs, grass, flowers, water, mountains and rocks. and if you understand the execution process for that one you'll be able to handle any relief mural in the world.
I do carve in the round, but I can tell those of you who don't know......... A well executed relief carving is infintely more difficult than in the round. Conveying true perspective without the benefit of being able to walk around the piece is not as easy as one might think.
Busy day in the studio. Back when I can.
Thanks

P

Pierre,
Catching up this morning, I too would like to express my "interest" in learning from your correction process on this mural. I would not presume to suggest anything to a professional like yourself, but anxiously await your comments along with several other professional carvers I treasure on this board.
Please do be patient with those of us who really have an interest in what you do and only comment with questions instead of suggestions.

My question is "yes, how are you going to tie the panels together more perfectly to satisfy yourself as well as your mother? I look forward to seeing pictures of the murals you have carved, and please do post pictures of others as well. I'm in Georgia, will probably never get to California, and wish I could visit them in person.
Thor

Thor, we'll take pictures of the entire rennovation process and post them...... and please..... Don't think that professionals don't learn from novices or intermediates. I've been reading this entire website for a number of days now and I'll be the first to admit that there are approaches and techniques that get the attention of even old-guys.
