From a younger perspective (and from someone who is much taller than either of his parents)...

About the time I got as tall as my parents, they started respecting me more. I guess they realized that I was growing up, and that my ideas and opinions were at least (margionally) as valid as their own. They started listening to my arguements instead of just overridding me.

They gave me more freedom, but expected me to be more responsible as well.

My kid was as tall as me by the time he was 15. Now at 22 he's his Dad's height.

There are still two simple things that I can use to maintain some domance (SP) to our relationship. First and foremost I do often remind him that I "am still da Momma!" That ususally works until he turns me in by calling Grandma who, of course, is "still da Momma" for me

But the really big leverage in our relationship comes through the check book! That one not even he would jepordize. Momma ain't happy then Momma ain't writin' no checks!

Susan

Susan you lucky girl! Mel what a wonderful gift to someone who is always giving to other's. Your wizard pen is perfect and everytime Susan looks at it she'll always think of your generous gift to her. Susan, every now and then we have to let our boys know we as their parents were their first boss and we haven't lost our touch! LOL
