Hi All, Now I know the first thing that most will think is that Chahlie is nuts....figured what out you might also ask..."the meaning of life... why the universe is sometimes so perverse...who the 'Shadow is???'...why there is NO blue food...if a train leaves Chicago at 4:30 pm headed west at 40 mph when will it reach New Delhi? NO I say No! nothing that complicated....I finally figured out how to get back into spending(investing) time in my carving. My beautiful bride loves to bead...a new bead store opened up 3 blocks away...they have a weekly sit and chat and bead get together....So tonight I asked if I could bring along a minimum of tools and work on a Santa ornament. The beautiful bride I am so lucky to be married to thought it was a wonderful idea and a great way for us to share our hobbies. On our way home I suggested that we make it a regular thing...the only night of the week she won't do it is when "house,M.D." is on and I like my SciFi friday nights....that could leave 5 night a week to enjoy our hobbies...of course that would also be impacted by changing work schedules. As my oldest child who is 27 would say..."cool bean, Dad!!!" Glad to be back and feeling the desire to make wood chips! Chahlie |

Blueberries, Chahlie! And there is no 'meaning of life', we are just big amebas .... that get born, go to school, get married, make babies, pay for those babies to go to school ..... Sigh! Glad you found a way to both join your hobby and have a great moment with the one you love. Susan Susan |

And don't forget bleu cheese! What would life be without bleu cheese in dressing or on garlic crackers? Or sauce over fresh green beans? Al |

bberry, I agree with your thoughts - except - I think think what you are saying is more a personnal choice or decision not a 'born with' mandate. It's my experience that only a few choose during their life to set goals for themselves as 'doing their best', 'treating others with respect' and 'accepting that there is a power greater than themselves'. I don't think that those choices above come with the birth certificate ... they come instead, in my experience, from reaching deeply into one's inner soul and discovering the courage to face the untrodden paths. Chahlie's post shows one of those inner moments where he has chosen a path for his life that includes sharing time, passions and fun with the person he loves the most. JUST MY OPINIONS! Take what you want and THROW the rest away. Susan (Uht-Oh ... I am waning into the esoteric this morning ... sorry )

Oh, Susan, you have brought out a nostelgic moment in me this morning.. Curtis and I spent fifty three years of creating together.. In our younger years it was building floats for the school where our children attended. Making Christmas decorations for the top of our home and enjoying all the cars that came by to see them.. Always, gardening in our flower beds ..and feeding the wildlife. At one point we had five tanks of tropical fish.. always went overboard with everything!!! Then we decided to get into ceramics and had the works, molds , kiln, pouring machine etc and that wasn't enough, so we had to start combining molds to create our own pieces..Then it was ornamental water foul with many avierys of ducks. Then last but not least twenty years of carving.. Oh, yes, we could argue like cats and dogs sometimes but would get over it.lol Now I am left with all those years of memories and my right hand or left is gone.. Now which is better? Not missing all those memories because they were not there ( I ask myself the question sometimes) or would you trade it for anything.. The answer is.." I would not trade it for anything , even with the hole in my heart.. I just look forward to the eternal kingdom where we can once again create magnificent greater things with out pain or effort and all the supplies and knives gouges etc. at our finger tips . Please excuse an old lady her memories but I just had to say... find the things you can enjoy together ..they are there waiting for you to enjoy.. takes a little effort but they are there and worth it! ..Charlotte Idea

Charlotte, As you know my Michael and I live the same life style as you and your Curtis. I learned a long time ago that all loves end in pain ... they either leave you or they die on you ... there's no way around that little life fact. I, for one, embrace that ultimate ending because everything that comes before it is worth the journey. Thank you for sharing your love for your Curtis with us! Susan |
