toycarver --- This piece of cedar was a cut-off from a log home that was being built. Unfortunately, I don't know of a specific source, but I'm sure that if you keep your eyes and ears open you'll find what you need. Ask around at your carving club. Try 'the google'. I'm sure there's no small number of lumber mills near you, up there in WA. The wood is out there... (BTW - might you be in Ellensburg next month?)

Scooter...no I am not going to be in Ellensburg, but know several people that are going. I took a couple of classes from one of the instructors there at a rendevous 2 wks ago. I have my bags packed for another in Montana in August. Not the same as a week long class though.
