Hi Mike, I took Marv's design class last year and had a great time. You will leave with plenty of information. Marv always takes the class to his place to see is carvings that in its self was worth the cost of admission. He is a first class guy and you will have a great time. There will be a guy in your class named Ivan tell him Jim from Pa says hello.

I am very jealous. My first instructor, Stan Bowers, here in Michigan has taken classes from Marv and holds him in high esteem. I have been very lucky to purchase one of his books Creating Caricature Heads in Wood and on Paper which is out of print. I have only seen pictures of Marv's work and stories from Stan about him and I believe you are in for a wonderful experience. Let us know how it all worked out for you.

Mike, I got to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I read your thread and I checked with the boss, and I will be living the dream as well. Happy Birthday to me!!

I have met Marv on several occasions and am fortunate to even own a minor carving of his, but I just reserved my spot in the same class.

Marv was in PA for the Fox Chapel open house when he was presented carver of the year and I got to listen to his talks and came away with a lot of good information.

If you want to see a slideshow of what his apartment looks like you can see it on the CCA Website here.

I did the May class back in 2007. It was wonderful. Would like to do it again sometime. My wife and I drove from Georgia. Took us about a week and a half to get there and then about the same amount of time to get back home.

The CCA slide show was okay. They cleaned the place up for those pics. HaHa. Plus that is not all of the carvings.....

Terry, what hotel did you stay at? Any recommendations for us on the area?
