Donna,here is an old trick when making eyes in basswood
put a drop of super glue on each eye mound let dry then
carve with detail knife.I use an exacto knife with the curved
blade.......Ron

Rick -- Your eye site ( lol ) is too good and too important to be buried here. Why don't you start a new thread and, hopefully, Bob D will make it a Sticky.
The best carving can be ruined by poor eyes. A poor carving can be rescued by good eyes.

What I do is after the eye mound is where I want it I put super glue on the mound and let it set up for a day. Then do like Rick said he does. the super glue trick is one that bird carvers use on beaks and pin feathers.
