Default Making an antique

My sister gave me a couple of old worned horse shoes from her horse and I decided to carve a horse head to fit on one of these horse shoes.

So I carved a horse head, stained, sanded, painted and used paint remover to make it look old...

Here is the result.

I am letting it dry for a while and then will sand it a bit and will add some mat varnish to protect it.

I will now work on the horse shoe and will have to clean it before I can use it. There is still some dirt on it and I left it in my car until I can take it inside...

I didn't know how I would use these old horse shoes when I asked them to keep a few for me, but this should be a good start.

What a good idea - what a good carving! I can't wait to see it finished.

Thanks for the nice comments...

I had to stop my post to answer the door, so I didn't have time to ask for any suggestions if you have some.

Like if I should install the shoe on wood or just use the horse head and the shoe???

Gilles
