I am looking for a magnifying device that will clip on a hat.I don't wear glasses but as I get older I find that I can't see as well when it comes to carving eyes. I previously wear a optivisor but find it to be a little bulky,I am looking for a magnifier that clips to the brim of a hat.I don't even know if they make such a device, but figured if they do someone in the carving world knows were to purchase one.I don't want to result to painting the eyes in so I need your help.

Hey Carolina Carver, Being 60 and having that same problem , I have resorted to using the optivisor when I'm doing detail work. The other thing that I use is a cheap pair of Walmart reading glasses -- both come in different strengths and I usually keep two strengths of both glasses and Optivisor lenses so that I have options, depending on what I need. I've seen magnifyer lenses that attach to glasses but never to a cap. Good luck. Donna T

If you don't mind wearing a hat while carving, you could do as the fly 8 do. Trying to tie a #28 midge onto a piece of 7/0 tippet at twilight will definitely put the squint into your eyes. This is one solution: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...h-results1.jsp And since that probably won't copy well, go to www.cabelas.com, and in the little search block on the upper left side, type "magnifier" without the quotes, and then press GO. It's called the firefly magnifier. Claude |

Try this link to see one: http://www.northernangler.mb.ca/onli...magnifyer.html I bought one from Gander Mountain sport store. They are used for tying flies I suppose. They do work well for what you want.
