Default Magazine Re-design

We got our copies of the upcoming issue of WCI in the office today, so they are mailing out to subscribers too.

In the Editor's Letter, Shannon has announced that we are making some changes to the magazine. The first, shown on the same page, is that our logo is changing.

As far as content, we really are not changing anything. Jon, Shannon, and I have been working hard to get a good mix of articles into the magazine, and that is not going to change. We are also not really going to change the way we present most articles. There will be gallery pieces, step by step articles, and pattern only articles.

We are going to try to get more human interest style articles in from time to time--Carvers done good, and that kind of thing. But we're not really changing the content.

We are going to make some changes to font and type, to make it easier to read, since a certian portion of our readership has trouble reading small type. We're going to change the table of contents treatment, to make it easier to find article you are looking for--it will be organized based on the type of article instead of just listing the articles in page order.

So, don't worry, there are some changes coming, but it's not going to change the content too awfully much!

If you have any questions, give me a shout!

Bob

BobD,
Thanks for the headsup. You realize of course, if you keep improving so much we are all going to want new issues more frequently. We won't be able to wait for an issue every other month.

Thanks for all your hard work. We all appreciate it and the excellent quality magazine you produce.

Well, Pandora's box is open, the stuff is out of the box and it has finally hit the fan!!!! YES it is time to start issuing 6 issues a year instead of four. Also it would be nice to have a couple of SPECIAL issues each year in addition. Maybe a holliday issue with nothing but Santas, Easter bunnies, Witches, St. Patrick's day stuff etc. etc. While you have done some of this in your PAINTING booklet and the one on power carving there are so many other areas to explore. Carving in the round and doing realistic faces would be great. While much of this can be found in many of the books you publish, nothing beats the excitement of getting my magazine in the mail. Makes my day (make that week).

With only 4 long awaited for issues per year I can only hope that the "quantity" of material isn't being decreased as the type gets larger & easier to read. Nice improvement but I'd rather squint than have less!!

Please say that you agree.

I had a boss who once told me that "if you are doing the same job in the same way five years from now, then you ain't doing your job".

Change is the only constant. Can't wait to see what you guys have in store!

We'll have the same quantity of materials in the magazine (for step by step articles, we'll still show six steps per page for most projects (unless there are enormous captions, then we may only show four).

I totally understand what you are saying, LBolt!
