Default Ma and Pa Bear in the forest

Just finished these pieces up. I made them partly for myself, (just to see what I could do), and also for my sister's birthday. I got the patterns from Mike Shipley's Woodcarving the Country Bear. I plan to give her the trees first to make her wonder what's going on, then go on to give her Ma and Pa.

Thanks for looking. Any critique is welcome.

Excellent job, they look great! Are these your first carvings? I should get my Shipley books any day now.

Corey,
I messed with carving years ago and I have a bunch of unfinished stuff. I'm getting into it with more passion lately. These are pieces #3 and 4 since december, (I made a santa for my Mom's collection and a snowman with stovepipe hat and all). I'm working now on a Mike Shipley's Busy Beaver figure. This guy will be for me.
I really like the Shipley book I have. There's alot of fun in the simple style he presents.

Nice work Jim.... The Shipley's put out some nice patterns. Try their Ozark folks if you get a chance!
