| | Re: I'm throwing out a challenge The Kepi was a stlye of hat still in use today . It was develpoed by the french and recongized world wide as the hat of the French Legion.
Here's a link. Kepi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In America it is often confused with the Union forage cap called a bummer. The bummer is larger of the same pattern but received the name because the men wearing it were considered bums.

| | Re: I'm throwing out a challenge WELL. I'm glad each and every one of you saw the same in the face I managed to capture with my cheapy little kodak digital camera. His buddy was here today working adain and I was surprised to hear that the guy in the photo is only 44 years of age and just recently separated from his wife. Anyway, he is quite happy with the thought I or someone else would want to capture his face in wood, so have at it gang.

Ya I got a gray one, when we visited Gettysburg, Pa., a few years back. But it's made of suede leather, hotter than then the hubs of Hell to wear in the Summer. |

The shop is run by Billy Whitcome. A very unique person. But he does make some of the finest period hats, and they wear like steel , Mine is going on 15 years and still in excellent shape, through all kinds of weather. Dirty Billy's Hats
