Default lurker, dove cane

I usually just lurk and have for 3 years, however, I thought I would show my latest project. It is a cane with a dove handle. The pattern is from Charles Self's book and is made from a cedar knot. The staff is a piece fo sycamore. I used tung oil to finish it. Please feel free to make any comments or suggestions.
Amy

Thank you, Phyllis and Merel. The cane was made for my Mother-in-law. In Feb. she fell and broke her hip. I gave it to her yesterday and she is using it. That means alot to me. The initials on it are hers.
Thank again for the nice comments, Amy

Hi Amy,

I'm so glad you decided to post you cane. You did a great job carving, fitting and finishing the cane. The metal ring is fitted very well and looks good. What kind of ing is it?

Ron, thank you. It is a brass join.. It comes in 2 pieces and screws together. Each piece is appoxied in. The ferral or tip of the cane is brass too and has a rubber tip on it. Amy

I like this cane because the handle is thick....one worry about canes they have to support my whole weight if the legs go. I hate standard medical ones are ugly... this is really sharp looking. Di

Nice handle! Show us more of your stuff, but I am especially fond of canes (and Santas, and spoons, and toys, and wood spirits, etc.)!

Amy a very nice piece of carving and the cedar is a very beautiful wood for carving. Happy to hear your mother inlaw is using it.
