My favorite carving knife has a loose blade! It moves front to back which makes it scary to use ! ![]() It looks like the blade is fastened to the handle with a 'half dowel' glued down beside the blade on one side. Does anybody know a good way i can fix this ! Can i pull out the blade and reglue it or is there a better way? ??? If i reglue it what is the best glue to use? Thanks in advance! GaFred

You will want to reset the blade with 5 minute epoxy. Pick it up at any hardware store for about 3 dollars. Don't use it again until you fix it, the blade may turn when you least expect it. |

Might be worth it to invest in a new one. Safety first. Tough to let go though huh. Easier said than done. |

That epoxy fix that Rick mentioned should work, but if the handle has opened up too much for the epoxy glueto fill, you might try filling the handle hole first with JB Weld or similar epoxy filler/adhesive. These products have either a metal or fiber filler added to the epoxy base to give added support. Most of these have a much slower set time and you wil have to park your knifew for at least 8 hours. Another option might be that two part epoxy plumbers puty ot similar carpenter's putty. Se time on these is about an hor and full strenght is obtained overnight (12 hrs, I guess) Al |

A friend of mine uses 2-ton epoxy to make most all his knives, sometimes he doesn't even use a rivet. Never had any problems that I know of. I say that if duct tape can't fix it then epoxy will. However, my computer tends to disagree. : |

My attachment to tools ends when they frustrate me or I find a better one. There is something exciting about starting a new project with a new tool. So the best glue I have found is called $$$Greenbacks$$$. ![]() Cheers Ric |
