| | Looking For Walking Stick Blanks Hi All,
What a great site. I have been carving wood for years, I had an art gallery in Santa Monica, CA. I closed it last year and, moved to Olympia washington to opened a small store featuring hand carved walking sticks and canes. I use all the local woods i could find. The problem is I don't have as much time to go looking for sticks. Im looking for all types of wood straight enough to make walking sticks, and sticks or roots with a natural handles to carve in to canes. Is there any body who could supply me with
blank sticks????
THANKS!!!!!!!

Seriously, according to the demand, I would consider doing this time. Never run out of material to work with, the hurricanes a blowing and twisting all the little trees into every shape imaginable> e-mail or message me, anyone interested. Semper Fi pogerope |

Useful carving bits used to fall off the old chinese elm at 313 N Foote Olympia. Might be worth strolling up there for a look.

| | Re: Looking For Walking Stick Blanks Hi Dirk, Parker from a few miles NW of you in Joyce, WA.
FWIW, a few years ago, I needed to make four sticks for a group of friends hiking across the Olympics. I split a 4" dia. cedar sapling into quarters, and peeled it. I smoothed off the split surfaces w/ drawknife and spokeshave, and carved a name and the date on each one. I also put copper ferrules on the bottom ends. These guys thought it was really cool that the four sticks fit together into one round "bundle". And they said a stout stick really helps in crossing large creeks and ravines.
Hope this helps,
Parker

I carve sticks for my business using dead Aspen. Aspen is a good wood to use for a walking stick. My sticks retain the rustic look. My supply will last through the winter, but I can supply you with sticks when the snow clears. coloradowalkingsticks. Dick |
