Hi, Anyone else on here from the NM area? I know someone named Mel answered once, but I seem to have lost that note. I was just wondering how many other people here are from this area. Thanks deb Last edited by Mitchell; 11-04-2009 at 01:10 PM. |

hey john! I also talked to someone named Mel I believe. Do you belong to a carving group here? I have just ordered more bark from Canada and can't wait for it to get here. There is a big differentc in that versus what we have here. I just wanted to talk to someone locally and see what there is to offer here. I have only seen groups in Cruces or woodworking groups. Just wondered. Deb |

the carvers meet at the Woodcraft store on Wednesdays call Phil at the store or Bill they can fill in the details they also meet at a church but I don't know the particulars. Regarding cottonwood bark Have you tried carving the branches the wood is like carving butter it is smooth I think it carves better then Basswood and is more forgiving it is not as chippy.the finish is a lot better too. you can get a high gloss just from buffing the piece after sanding.
