I am working on the mantel clock from the Spring 2008 magazine. The plans call for a 5 1/8" clock insert, which I can't seem to find. Has anyone made this clock? I have made a few searches on the web but nobody seems to carry that size. Thanks |

Try this site, I have bought from them in the past with no problems. Klockit - The World's Leading Clock Parts and Clock Movements Supplier for Over 35 Years Dave |

Go back and take another look at the plans, I don't think it is calling for a 5 1/8" in hole, it says that one took a 3 1/8" hole for the insert which I think are available from places like Woodenteddybear.com and even klockit.com. If nothing else you can modify the plans slightly to accept a slightly smaller clock. Arthur |

Braintree, this is a clock I made using an insert from Klockit. The clock is about 6 1/4" in diameter, but note the size of the insert hole. I've done a couple of clocks using Klockit's inserts and they've great to deal with. Good luck. Mike

mdallensr, I Love your acanthus clock! Did you cut the blank for it yourself? What kind of wood and what were the original dimensions of the blank? Really nice. Russ |

HI Russ. The clock is a Johan Amrud design. I carved it in Honduran mahogany; it's abut 12" wide by 15" tall and about 1 1/4" thick. I cut the blank on my bandsaw and cut the hole for the clock insert with my scroll saw. Thanks for the kind words. Mike

I know I can use a smaller diameter insert but was hoping to get as close to 5 1/8" as possible. I have found a 4 1/2" that I will go with if I don't find anything larger. Thanks for the help.
