Default Look what I go for Christmas

Hey you guys eat your hearts out. Irishman (Patrick) and I decided a while back to do a carving exchange. Now as you know we both do fairly large carvings so there was a bit of a problem on how we were going to send them. We discovered that by sending them Canada it wasn't that bad. Expensive enough but no where near what it would have cost by Fedex or UPS. The other thing is we didnt have to do the customs and duty thing. At any rate I am now the proud owner of a Irishman original. Peoples let me tell you that a picture does not do his carvings justice at all. WOW is all I can say. My mountain man sits on its own oak table now in my rec room where I can see it. He holds a place of honour in my house and always will. I will tell you this though I definatly got the best out of this deal, I only wish I had this mans talent. So as you sit there and drool I will sit here and enjoy it in real life. Patrick thank you for doing the exchange even if it was my idea I hope you enjoy yours half as much as I enjoy mine. I have attatched some pictures for you to enjoy sorry the first was a little fuzzy. Ron Davidson the carving is done in a bass wood log about two half feet tall five inches in diameter. The carving is of a mountain man with a huge bulbus nose, beautiful eyes ( Patrick does absolutly wonderful eyes) with a feather in the front of his cap with a button that the feather goes through. The finish on his carvings is unbelievable and he does it mostly with a chisel.

No doubt about it Colin, you are indeed one lucky man! Patrick's work is definitely the tops and I rarely miss one of his posts... always great stuff that I learn much from. But gosh, to have one right in your own hands... now that's great!

Wow! Green with envy there Colin AND Patrick. I'm sure you BOTH made out well on your exchange. Thanks for sharing the pics Colin. I'm with Dave in that I always check out Patrick's work and it is is always a pleasure. Agree totally about his eyes. Well done Patrick.

Now Patrick - post some pics of Colin's half of the trade so we can see the treasure you got!!!

Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to you both.

Cheers

Colin got the jump on me and posted first. I'm at work right now but I'll post some pics for the group when I get home as I have to take some photos.
I'm surprised Colin didn't comment on my packaging job. Lets just say I ran out of bubble wrap and duct tap which was perhaps the majority of the weight. I'll share my "Colin Original" with everyone tonight so stay tuned.
Patrick
