Carving a longbow?

I've always been interested in this. The best local wood I have for this is Ash (I think). Also have white oak. I would like to make a bow that I could actually hunt deer with. Any advice?

How about arrows?

There is a book caled the boyers bible. I hope I spelled that right. It will tell you everything you need to know. You should be able to find it on amazon.com. There is also a magazine called traditional bow hunting but I can't recall it this is the exact name. If you are going to take the time to make one I'd suggest ordering some osage orange (aka Boise de Arc) Probably also misspelled.

Good luck,
Dan

I made archery equipment for a few years and got most of my help from reading as mentioned above and a site called www.primitivearcher.com. Oh and lots of practice. Have fun. Woods I used are Red Elm, Ash, Cherry, Hickory. Many more can be used if available as you will discover. Al
