| | Local Wood Carving Club I finally was able to make it to a meeting of a local wood carving club last night and man did it help already. I took my great Goody roughout and said "I got this and what advice do you have?"
He tossed it aside and got a stick of basswood and said you need to learn eyes. It is amazing how I have tried eyes but the HANDS ON learning in that 15 minutes was priceless. I am now no longer thinking of covering my Santa's face with a hood..... (I know that would have been a cop out).
I enjoyed being there so much. He gave me a little cutout of a mini paint brush they use for beginner demonstrations here and when I got home I HAD TO get my knife out and do it. I will take pictures soon to show you my official first in-the-round carving... LOL

| | Re: Local Wood Carving Club Hi Ho,
Why don't you run an ad in a local advertisement, the paper, or hang some kind of note on grocery store bulletin board, post office (and just hope no one recognizes who you are ) and start your own carving club. Might be surprised at how many people would be interested.
