Default Little gift bear

My father in law spent a couple of days in ICU, and the nurses there were so understanding and helpful--even when he got mean--that I was thinking of them when I was whittlin' away this morning outside my hotel room.

So I made the bear an RN and dropped it off at their desk. Seems they liked it, although I suspect they appreciated my recognition of their efforts more than they're impressed with my meager carving skills.

Bear is 3" tall. All carving was with my new FlexCut carving knife. The nose, eyes and "RN" are done in black Sharpie (magic marker). The red cross was done with a red highlighter which, as you can see, tends to run.

I love these simple projects that take just an hour or so to finish. Wanted to let those who are doing the tutorials that they're very much appreciated.

This is also the first carving I gave away to somebody other than family. It's surprising to me how much people appreciate such a gift.

Cute little nurse, they do not get recognition for all they do. But you put a smile on their faces.

Bravo! Nice job and the thought really counts! I always keep two or three bears ahead just so that I can give them away as gifts to show my appreciation! I love to see people's faces light up!!!!

What a thoughtful and unselfish thing to do. I bet you made the nurse's day.
