Default Little Bird

Hi All,
Surprise 'no pointy ears' giving the elves a rest for a while.
I really wanted to move on to another subject that of Indians and Mountain Men. So I have created 'Little Bird' an Indian from who know's what tribe.
He is 7" x 3" inches carved in basswood and adorned with tourquoise and jasper beads.
After I had done a lot of carving on the hat I realized I was seeing a bird shape at the very top. Which I'm going to use on my next larger carving and bring it down further on the hat.
Finishing: Woodburned eyes, Antique White Acrylic Highlights, BLO, Satin Lacquer, 50% Watco Dark Wax, 50% Neutral Watco Wax.
As always, I appreciate your thoughts and comments for improvement.
Kathy
Note: This carving will be a wall piece, so I had to prop it again an oak support for the side views.

Kathy, he's a beauty and those eyes, man, they just draw you in, you did a really fine job on him. Quite a departure from what you've been showing of late.

Hi Kathy, your carving is so neat and crisp and well balanced. You seem to be able to carve just what is in your mind. Detailing is great. Merle

Hugh, Cliff, Kenny and Merle:
WOW, thank you guys, I'm really pleased with the positive comments from you all.
The mean reason I started carving the elves was to learn how to carve facial features--so I could move on to carving such as this one.
Thank you, all for re-enforcing that I'm headed in the right direction with my carvings.
Kathy

Hi Kathy
He looks great buddy, I like that you added ear rings, that's a nice touch. I like how you came up with your name Little Bird. Reminded when one of the Native American guys called one of the supervisors Walking Bird. Found out it meant so full of @#$& he couldn't fly.

Your faces keep on impressing me Kathy. Your past ones were also very good but I think your committing yourself more with deeper cuts and more character lines. The hint of the blue earrings goes well with the natural wood look too.
