Default Life is good!!!!

Just opened my gifts and Santa was real good to me this year.I must have been good all year.I got a Gene Webb signature knife, a Dave Lyons Master Detail knife, a new carving glove, and the set of 6 round eye punches. Oh, I almost forgot the Gene Webb study cast for the woodspirit.I'll probably be making a lot of woodspirits this year. :

Wow, Groozier, what a windfall!! Congratulations!! My husband gave me several good carving books - one on carving civil war figures (he's a civil war buff). LOL...do you think that's a hint?

Hi Gang,
I've been out for awhile. My wife and I decided not to give gifts this year because we got a brand new Ford F250 super cab, long bed, 4x4, truck. (for towing my boat) and then 2 weeks later she buy's herself a time share in the mountains. I will be pretty broke for awhile, but I sure love my new truck. HO, HO, HO.

You did good. My Christmas strategy work well too this year. I have been needing small tools so I made a list of three Flexcut Palm sets I wished for, by model number and name, showed list price and then the price from the Hummel Flyer (they thought they bought them on sale) then listed the 800 number at Christian J. Hummel Co. My lovely wife, my Mom and my brother all followed instructions perfectly. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I wish each of you a prosperous and cut free New Year.
Ah Chip

I was blessed also, with a 5HP 25 gal air compresser with a dryer and filter on it. Hmmmm maybe that is a prelude to a 40,000 rpm carver. Surely Santa Will not wait that long.
A years subscription to Wood carving Illustrated with the Holiday Issue being the first, . A Helvie Knife 8). and some wood clamps plus othe gifts.

Yes I was truely Blessed.

and Safe New Year to all of you.

I didn't get any carving stuff, but Santa was still kind enough to bring me two new fishing reels. Pretty spiffy ones too. The Quantum Performance Tuned jobs for anybody who cares

Fat Eddy,

You did better than I did, for sure. The day before Thanksgiving, the compressor on my 22 year old Heat Pump went out, and replacement was outta sight, so My sweet wife got a new Trane heat pump, and I gotta new digital thermostat. At least I maintained control around here.

But all in all, I agree-LIFE IS GREAT!!!!!

LOL, yes it is worth saying again. I hope you're not planning to spend TOO much time fishing, unless, of course you whittle while you fish :-)

Santa brought The Captain a new arc welder (since I managed to buy almost every carving tool available over the last few years). I am still having problems welding 2 x 4's. I wanted to try to integrate wood carving with blacksmithing. I have discovered that many blacksmiths were also accomplished carvers who began smithing to make their own tools. I plan to start with forging an iron frame for an oak plaque made to hold a big Bowie knife I forged. I have played around with forging iron fittings for some of the walking sticks I carve, too. Using several art forms together really expands the possibilities.
