I have a 9" Cypress Knee that I am not sure what to do with. I wanted top see some of the knees you have done to get some IDEA as to what you can do with one. I was thinks it would make a good wizard or something like that, but don't know where to start. Thanks goat

Heres the only one Ive carved, some honey bears last year. It had a hole on the left side, made a water fall there. This knee was so dry and old which made it hard to carve plus it wasnt a big knee, tall at 15 inches & wide 5 3/4 inches, bought it in a yard sale think for 25 cents but it was fun trying. Forrest

this dont look like a cypress knee, but it is or was, in 1974.. i carved many of these for the GI's that rotated out of the service during the Vietnam era, i finely retired in 91 and kept this one for myself... the wife and kids entered it in state fair here locally and i got a red ribbon, it went to state at Shreveport la. and got another red ribbon.. the year was 1990 i think... painted with paint by number left over oil paints, a cuff blousing elastic helment band and a low quarter shoe string for laces, short ribbon on right boot lace off segrams vo bottle... i never thought much about it until now, humm dose that make me a professional carver?

Thomas, we call him "Short Timer" and we had them in Nam just before we left and rotated back home. Would hand him over to the next "short timer" in country(Days left in Nam). Man your "Short Timer" brings back memories. Thanks for showing him. BTW, ya done really good with it.

Yesterday I posted a few shots of a knee I worked on this and last month. It was under Works in progress - Work in Progress Elf Completed…I think There are several others posted on my Whimsicalwoodcarving.com Website. Good luck with the hunt for an inspiration. Jim
