UNCLE RICK prompted me to start this thread when he said there wasent much activity on this board latley. How about letting us see what you are all working on at the moment. It doesnt matter if its finished or not, if its not even better still and we cant track your progress maybe even offer some suggestions. I think that would be great sometimes I get going on a carving and dont know where to go next. Maybe someone else has an idea I could incorperate into the carving. At any rate I for one would really be interested in seeing what you are all working on. If you are not able to share a photo maybe just tell us what it is your doing I think it would be very informative.

Sorry, I've been fishing and playing golf mostly ... just a bit of whittling. Guess I could post a pic of the leprechaun I did while stranded with nothing but my pocket knife. Might be interesting to show what a knife can do. Have to figure out how to use the digital camera first though. Wonder why I bought that thing in the first place. Never use it.

Just finished a couple of walking sticks/canes on my pic trail

Hi Colin No camera but started roughing out 'MOSE' on page 93 issue 26. Going to laminate 4 pieces 3/4 pine. He will be 8' tall. Also changed the bevel on my H. Taylor #3 gouge to 20 deg. it was about 12 when new , kept breaking the edge. Seem to be busy carving and not getting much done. Ron A.

Hello eveyone,
I haven't posted for sometime now. My wife and I had our second child on 2/03/04. So to say the least I haven't had too much carving time. Today, though, I've posted my 'in process' carvings on my picturetrail site. I can't wait to get them done, hopefully soon so I can post the pictures. Take care.

I took a few photo's this afternoon of some carvings that I did yesterday and today. I am doing quite a few out of Sumac.
If you havent tried it grab a piece and give it a try really beautiful wood. The little guys ( I carved 10 of them in just a few hours are just so much fun I can totally get into them because the finished product comes so fast. People just love them as well the heart wood is really yellow and the sap wood is very white makes a nice contrast. I have posted a couple of pictures of them on Picture Trail in the wood spirit album. I have also posted some pictures of my walking sticks as well in the walking stick album they are also a hit. I say walking sticks but they are really hiking staffs probably five to six feet tall.

Hi, I posted on 'Hey' thread on what I was doing on the woodcarving end of things. I read chipper67's post about the new addition, Congrats to you and your wife. I have been looking at and transfering 12 years of my daughters Videos onto a single highlight video. So those memories of a new baby in the house sure came back. So I've been to busy keep up on the computer stuff. Later Gergie

I have been carving woodspirits and more woodspirits. I now have a stock of about 25 for the upcoming craft sales and rendevous. This weekend will be peeling time for 20 basswood sticks so I can get them carved also. I will post a few pics if I get the time.

I have started on the Joseph for a nativity set from Shawn Cipa's book on carving the folk art Nativity. At 8 inches tall its a lot bigger than what I had done in a while but its going ok so far. Since I use a knife most of the time I had to sharpen a couple of gouges before starting too. And practice a few cuts before I started : Don

Been 'trying' to do some cabinetry, and not having much luck. Building a Fine Tool Chest as seen in Woodsmith mag. issue 151, for all my carving tools, and while I can carve and build wonderful ship models, I'm next to useless as a cabinet maker! :-[

I've also got that Celtic design I'm playing around with, a relief carving of the Artemis, and a model of H.M.S. Shannon. At least with these I know what I'm doing, or so I tell myself, and when I screw up another joint on the cabinet, back I scurry to carve something to boost my spirits.

At least I've learned to stay with what I'm good at, so after this case is finished, no more cabinetry.
