I seen on a carving toutorial, somewhere here on this web site, I think, a well known carver that had an electric drill that was held in a fixture that he clamped to his bench top. In the drill he chucked the leather power strop wheel, turned on the drill, and power stropped his knife blade. Does anyone know where I can order this drill fixture, that clamps to the drill? I have seen several web sites for the leather wheels, but not this drill fixture. This sure would beat hand stropping! Thanks... Rich |

If you have a 4 inch vise the drill will clamp in it by itself. Save the money. I did.

Smokey Mountain also carries the muslin buffing wheel that Allen Goodman shows in the video. Buffing Wheels and Buffing Compound scroll to the bottem of the page. Thanks for the idea Claude, I like building my own too. John |

I roughed out a chunk of wood approximating the curvature of the top of the drill body, drilled a hole through it and used a large gear clamp to "marry" the drill to the block. It can be secured to a bench or vise many ways.

Hi Rich, I have developed a sharpener that has both diamond sharpening capabilities, and a leather strop for finishing up. You might take a look at tomz knife massager on Ebay, and see it this might fit your needs. Thanks , Tom |

Rich, Once you get the leather power strop, I think you'll love it. I use my leather wheel to do a quick "strop" of carving tools and rarely have to go back to the sharpening wheel. 10 seconds and you're ready to go back to carving. I especially like the yellow (orange) compound and usually do a quick touch of the inside of the gouge to the cloth wheel to get any residue of a burr cleaned off to finish it. Donna T

I think it's Klingspor that has a leather sleeve that fits on a drum sander, I have one just can't remember where I bought it. Very inexpensive and it works great. Will try to find a link. Dave |
