Default Laughing Woodspirit

I did a very large woodspirit last spring with a big gaping mouth so I decided to try another one but much smaller. This 3.5 foot woodspirit is carved in white birch and has a wash of acrylics on his face, and tung oil for the rest. I sealed him with deft satin and put some dark satin wax on the face, mouth, and hair area.

Looks like you've got another guest for Thanksgiving! Put him at the head of the table! Whoops! Forgot! You guys don't celebrate Thanksgiving up there! Anyway! Great work! Outstanding detail and features! Looks real!

Thanks fella's.

What do you mean Eddy "we" don't celebrate Thanksgiving! You just have yours during the cold weather while we have ours early in the fall...when the turkey is less tough

Thumbs up Re: Laughing Woodspirit

I don't know what to say, Patrick you really did an amazing job on this one I am in awe of your skills, I thank you for posting pictures of him.
Carl

P.S.
I had only one tip for you if you don't mind.

I feel that if you had carved a shallow recess under his mouth, where the jaw line would be. He could have turned out even better then he already did, I like to do this it makes the beard hair look more natural, in my opinion. Gives it a look like it is just falling off his chin. I really like the way you did the eyes, How did ya do those pupils?

WOWZER, Patrick, that is some kinda fine lookin spirit. I LOVE the teeth. On the more serious side, when I fisrt looked at him, I zeroed in on the eyes, man oh man, take another look, I see cat eyes for some reason. That's one fantastic job old buddy.
