Thanks everybody for the kind words. This mantel is six inches high and the carved area was four feet long. The mantel was six feet long and ten inches deep. The stain was mixed from tube oils. A spray sealer after it dried and then a paste wax for dark colored surfaces and then buffed.

Nice carving and the color seems to be just right... not too overpowering but with enough strength to pull a set of eyes into it without letting go. Thanks for sharing this!

That mantle is a nice piece of carving. Any home would be graced with it's beauty. Very well done!

I have visited your web pages many times. The details in your mantels are inspiring and every time I look at them, I wish I could see them in person.
