| | Latest batch of Santas! We finished up another batch of Santas tonight. Tomorrow they go off to new homes. Got a question. On this board some people post pics as attachments, some have a gallery, and some use picturetrail. What is the preffered method of posting. Since this forum has gained a hotkey on my keyboard and has become another board that I just have to read everyday I will be spending some time here daily. I wish I could type with my feet so that I could carve while I am on the coumputer. Looks like I will have to stay up a little later.

| | Re: Latest batch of Santas! My wife and I have a small shop in Md. Before I got hurt, a reporter did an article on my Santas for the Sunday Sun. It generated over 150 orders the first week after the paper hit the stands. As I fill an order the customers have been reordering so the order base is staying the same. I got hurt at work about a year ago and Workers Comp has given me a fit. You can't sell anything when you are workers comp. I was just relased back to full duty last week. So the orders are staring to go out. A shop up in Harve D'Grace MD also sells my Santas. I carve in thier shop On December 10th during the Candlelight tour. This has also generated orders. We are trying ot find health insurance that we can afford so I can quit the full time job and push our shop to make a living.

| | Re: Latest batch of Santas! Hi DecoyCarve, What a delightful batch of Santas! No wonder you have sooo many orders. Please let your good wife know that I really love the painting as well!
I always have liked to post to the thread, just my preference. That way what you and everyone else is discussing or "Ohing and Ahing" is right there with all the comments. It can be very disappointing to read through previous threads before I joined the forum and see "I just posted to the gallery" because I have no idea which carving in the gallery was associated with which thread. So there are the comments but nothing tangible associated with them. This is especially true if the poster is asking for feed back besides "Oh's and Ah's". If the thread has no photos then the feed back becomes meaningless.
Personally, I don't see any reason why someone can't do both - post to the gallery and to the thread. It only costs Fox bandwidth is someone clicks on an image, otherwise it's just storage space. So the gallery image is always available to view and the thread image gets seen when someone is reading the post.
Just my opinion.

Nice work. Will have to convince my wife to take a trip. She needs to get out more. And a candlelight evening in Dec. Sounds great.

| | Re: Latest batch of Santas! Susan is right...I like to see the photos posted in both places. It makes sense to attach them to the thread because then people can see what you are talking about. And if you post them in the Gallery, they are there for people to see forever. Since the gallery is search engine friendly, if you take the time to enter a description and classify the carving, people can search for it!

| | Re: Latest batch of Santas! Wonderful Santas! I know I am repeating others, but what more can I say?
I wish the photos were closer up so I could see the fine details of the carving and the paintings. I get so inspired by those of you who are so talented in multiple ways. The shop looks inviting as well.
Glad you're staying busy doing what you love.

| | Re: Latest batch of Santas! Excellent carvings I would also like to see an up close picture so we could see the detail of the painting. Its no wonder you have so many orders. I also post to both but if you are posting to the thread be careful to only post one picture at a time even if you reduce them. If I try to post too many to the thread it wont do it. Now that could be me maybe I dont reduce them small enough.
