Default What is the largest thing you have carved?

Hey everyone, out of curosity, what is the largest thing you've ever carved? I did some simple chip carving on a quilt rack...which is the biggest project I've worked on...

In my case it was the guy in the mirror. 6 foot guy with a surprised look on his face and holding the gouge that slipped. <grin>

Next biggest thing would be a tie between a quilt rack and pierced panel carvings. The cabinet doors may have to wait for next year.

I've been carving small things so far. I think the largest I've done were several 2"x2"x3" snowmen.

The biggest was a sign for a Hightclub/ Dancehall. Sign was 3 foot by 5 foot with a Longhorn bull head. They like the name and bull but did not like the way it was put it on the wall. Miscommunication between the owner and the handiman which was the owner's son. Others are in the 10 inch to 14 inch range. Smallest has been the dove pins 1 1/2 inch l X 3/4 inch wide.

Ages ago I did a 30" tall Uncle Sam -- never again. I think 18" is my limit.

The biggest things I've done have been about 5 inches tall. Obviously I haven't gotten into the big stuff yet. Well, unless one counts the couple of sticks (not staves--sticks) I've done which are a LITTLE longer.

Matching 28 foot Totem poles with 23 feet of carving.

They took two years to finish, one trip to the emergency room,
all the while sitting in my driveway.
Never again.
