I have looked for an in-lap dust collector which is good but going at a modest price. I have just started woodcarving, and belong to a club in Fergus, Ontario on the property where I live. I bought a drummel, but am reluctant to use it before I get something that sucks in the fine dust I will create while carving. Any suggestions as to where I can get one. Any suggestions as to a range of prices. Thanks, Paul DeRoo |

Hello Paul, I have used the "In Lap" brand dust collector for probably 7 or 8 years and I love it....but you still need a mask. The in lap is quieter than a lot of those larger machines too and somewhat portable, though heavy (20lbs). It is in the Christian J. Hummul catalog for $379. A heavy duty little squirrel cage fan that has a cloth bag attached to it (that's the heavy part) and can hang by a hook under your table. A 4 foot 6" hose comes off the motor and hooks to a "lap board" with a hole cut and wire/hardware cloth across it so you don't lose a carving down there if you accidently drop it. Mine came with an extra bag. The bags remove easily for dumping. The gentleman that I bought mine from, used to demo them at our show every year. Then he would sell the demo unit at a discount at the end of the show and I bought that one from him one year. You might google to see if you can get a better price. But it's a good little machine. I have used mine hard for many years with no problem |

| Build your own dust collector for your shop Hi Paul I built one from and old DRYER MOTOR AND SQUIRREL CAGE, it works great and is very quiet. I think I spent $22.00 building it. The link above will take you to the plans, Larry |

Paul, I have one I no longer use since I got my big dust collector. Send me an e-mail if you are interested. Price is $100.00 plus shipping and a picture is available. Doug dnmridley@bellsouth.net |
