Default :KnottyPine Turkey:

This was another piece of the knotty pine boards Id cover our living room walls with last winter. The boards are tongue and groved, they are 5/8 X 5 1/2. I had to cut off the grove part but left the tongue part which I carved the turkeys tail feathers out of.

This is a Jake turkey, not a grown turkey yet. Hes 4 3/4 wide{beak to tail feathers} X 9 inches tall{the tree behind him to the ground} The weeds at his feet,I carved and when it came time to paint them, just painted them darker then lightly dry brushed the mixed colors of the grass over my cuts which is alot easier than trying to paint every blade of the weeds.Hes painted with acrylics.

I finished carving him yesterday which took right at 3 hrs and painted him in 1 hr 45 mins this morning.

I will mount a block of wood behind him where he will stand up on his own,hes took small of a carving to fix a hanger on him where he would hang on a wall.

I wanted to carve 5 items this wk but this old Jake took longer than I liked. Your thoughts or comments are always welcome.

Thks' Forrest
