I bought a new knife at Woodcrafters the other day, and absolutely love it. It is a Japanese made knife, and the steel quality is impeccable. The blades are honed and ready for use. I touched up the handle with some fine sandpaper, but only due to my preferences, nothing was really 'wrong' with the way it came. These have a larger handle than the Butz German made or similar knives that most of us are familiar with, so if you have a small hand it may not suit your preferences, or you may want to rework the handle to fit better. If you have a larger hand it may fit better than the Butz-style handle. The smallest blade is 2 1/4', so it's not an 'all purpose' knife. I'm sure I'll still use my Butz and Pfeil (detail) knife plenty, but for general cutting it's really great. I paid $19.99, but later realized that Lee Valley sells the same knife for $13.99. I wish Woodcraft wasn't so expensive on some of their items, but they have a store only a few miles from where I work, that I frequent more than is good for my wallet. : ![]() Of course, these are my opinions only, your mileage may vary. Here is a link to the Woodcraft site (I got knife A, and I think I see knife C in my future): http://shop.woodcraft.com/Woodcraft/...D3E68F2262F976 |

Box, Maybe you could get the knife and just keep it in the truck--in case you need to hide it or need everything there for a fast get away. She'd surely be so upset about the truck she wouldn't look in the glove box, would she? Or look at it from another standpoint, what is it that she'd like to have and doesn't think you'll agree to -- than you can say---'ahhh, gee honey, why don't you go ahead and get it if you want it. You work so hard and really deserve it!!' Donna T

Probably a good idea Donna since I think I'm going to end up living in that truck if I don't change my ways! By the way my Wife is a Donna T too. Scared me the first time I saw your posts. |
