Default Knife guard

I would like to make a wooden knife guard to cover the business end of my knife when I am no using it. Right now i have the plastic cover it came in. The other day went somewhere that I had to wait around for a while so I brought my knife and a carving I was working on. Put the knife in my pocket but didn't feel comfortable with sharp knife in front pocket if you know what I mean. I thought I saw a thread on how to make on but can't find it in search. Anyone know where I might find it?

Don't know if this is what you had in mind, but maybe an idea. "http://www.pinewoodforge.com/sheath.making.htmlPersonally" target="_blank">Birch Bark Knife Sheath Personally, I carry several folding pocket knives that are reshaped & sharpened to what I like. The last one I bought, I gave a whole $2 dollars for. Good carving! BRIAN D

Here's one version of a knife guard by Will Hayden.

And this might have been the leather knife sheath thread you saw here.

Blanchard, You might also try one of the synthetic wine bottle corks. They conform nicely to your blade, and stay on good too. They also work on gouges, and v-tools.

Good luck, Tom

I'm a big fan of the synthetic wine bottle corks. They're inexpensive and effective, if not particularly good looking.

I made some out of some old leather from a wallett I had laying around. I just wrapped it around the knife and super glued it together carefully. If the leather is thin enough stitch it together with a sewing awl.
