Default Klondike Elf

Hi All:

Another elf, just can't seem to stop carving these wonderful little Basswood fellow's.

Used a little different finish for this one: Apply, let soak into cervices, wipe off. If you want it darker then reapply and wipe off until you get the effect you are looking for.
Watco Satin Wax
3 parts neutral
1 part dark
I think this mixture gives the Basswood a very warm color, different anyway.

I apply two coats of Deft Semi Gloss Clear Lacquer

Eyes are woodburned, highlight color is Antique White. I didn't apply the clear acrylic I normally use...I wasn't sure how it would adhere to the wax. I'll have to make a test next time.

As always appreciate your comments,
Kathy

Hi Bob (Timberwolf) & Merle

Bob, thank you and I get metal hanger's at Michaels and I would think Hobby Lobby carries them too. Price runs about $3.99 at Michaels.

Hey Merle thank you too and also for the welcome back! I've actually been posting, but will try and be more active. I've had my nose to the carving grind stone trying to get an inventory to our Mountain Artist Guild Gallery show. I have already sold one of my little bark houses. The Gallery Manager ask me to bring in a replacement...good hea.

I'm working on a Basswood cowboy bust carving first time carving a cowboy hat...wish me luck.

I need to go check and see what you have been up too?

Thanks again,
Kathy
