Hello everyone Well my carving tool should be one there way from Little Shavers in about a week (I'm hoping less) so it wont be long and I'll be making chips. I was looking at some of the carving tool sites and I came across aprons. There sure are a lot of different kind, even ones that will collect the chips I never knew there was such a thing. I kind of like that one it might help keep the mess down when I'm carving indoors. Any way, should I have a apron and if so what kind should I get and were is a good place to buy from. Thanks. |

Hi Dan. I have one of the aprons that collects the chips and it works really well. I bought it from Smokey Mtn. Safe carving. Paul

I'm not worried about the chips hitting the floor, but I am concerned that a sharp tool might enter parts of my torso when I slip. I bought a leather welders apron from some machine tool place on the web. Price was right, and it has deflected several knife and gouge "oops" over the years, as well as drops of paint and varnish. Just Google "welder leather apron" to find many of them. Claude |

Thanks for the replys. I'm going to have to see if I can come up with a way to put the two kinds of apron together. Add a pouch to a leather apron or add a piece to leather to an apron that has a pouch. I think the first would be the easest. Paul any chance you could sent me a picture of what pouch looks like on your apron. Thanks again.

My daughter made me a full bib-top apron from parts of 2 pr of my worn out jeans. . . original pockets and belt style closure with a cowboy buckle even! Heavy. It hangs in the kitchen just to look cool. I should use one, almost all my winter sweaters are stuck up with chip bits. But it has to be so tightly woven that chips won't stick. . . . too hot then? |
