Default Katsina exhibit

While going through the polar exhibit at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh (mostly to check out the polar bears), I noticed a native-American exhibit of the Hopis. I remember seeing some posts about Katsinas on this board but had no idea what they were or looked like. The Hopi exhibit was pretty extensive and interesting and then, around a corner, they had a couple of walls lined with Katsinas. So here's some photos of them. Mike

Thx for sharing the pics. I really enjoy the SW native art. Looked at many Katsinas in Sante Fe last Oct. Didn't buy any but sure would have if I had the money.

Hi Mike, thank you for sharing this exhabit with us. My favorites are the Hopi and Zuni dolls. We have a wonderful museum here in Prescott, Arizona called the Smoki (smok-i) that has quite a nice collection of dolls and Indian artifacts. Then of course there is the Heard Museum in Phoenix with a huge collection.
