| | KatRita Wood Project Well, I made it out of the Welcome New Members Section and thought I would be spending time in the Beginner Section. However, I was parousing (is that spelled right???) the galleries and seeing a picture of a chainsaw carving reminded me of something. I searched the forum, and nope, no record of what I was searching for.
So, without further explanation, are any of you familiar with the KatRita Wood Project? I hosted this group in June for a special weekend exhibition and they were fantastic. Good, worthwhile cause. I was just wondering if any of you had heard of them. Maybe some of you chainsaw carvers might want to get involved with them...

| | Re: KatRita Wood Project Well, according to http://www.thefreedictionary.com/perusing
it's really: "pe·ruse (p-rz)
tr.v. pe·rused, pe·rus·ing, pe·rus·es
To read or examine, typically with great care.
[Middle English perusen, to use up : Latin per-, per- + Middle English usen, to use; see use.]
pe·rusa·ble adj.
pe·rusal n.
pe·ruser n.
Usage Note: Peruse has long meant "to read thoroughly" and is often used loosely when one could use the word read instead. Sometimes people use it to mean "to glance over, skim," as in I only had a moment to peruse the manual quickly, but this usage is widely considered an error. Sixty-six percent of the Usage Panel finds it unacceptable." but don"t worry about it - you spelled it phonetically so we knew what you meant.
I hadn't heard of that organization, although I went down to New Orleans for the birth of my grandson in January of 2006. The downed trees beginning about 100 miles or so from the city was amazing - mile after mile with half the trees either broken half way up, or tipped completely over and roots sticking in the air. The freeways were clear by then, but we could see lots of wood that had just been pushed off to the side of the road. If some organization is able to use these trees for something other than mulch, that's great, as far as I'm concerned.

| | Re: KatRita Wood Project I think the Project is a great idea and opportunity for chainsaw carvers to put some good wood made available by Mother Nature to use.
Well done BBswampgirl.
