Default Kaleidoscope Santa

[Pictures hopefully attached]

Last winter WCI conducted a Santa Carving Contest (and who could forget the lively discussion which followed the announcement of the winner!). As it happened, I was one of the Honorable Mention recipients. One of the prizes was this Kaleidoscope Santa kit, from Steve Brown Woodcarving (thanks Steve!), which I just got around to finishing. Actually, the carving's been done for some time, it's just come painting time procrastination sets in (like most carvers I know). It included a roughout, and the pieces to fashion a kaleidoscope inside the Santa.

It's kinda cool, actually. You remove the tree from Santa's bag and look throught the hole in the top. There is a prism inside and a marble at the end which you spin to produce the kaleidoscope effect.

Nice looking carving!

Do you buy the 'scope already assembled and just install in a hole in the carving?

Scooter,Very nicely done. The paint job was worth the wait. I don't look at as procrastination. I look at as just taking a long time to form a minds view of how you exactly want the out come to be.

Save Carving and God Bless,

Mark
